The Firenze Marathon 2026 takes place on Sunday, November 29, and the start is in Piazza del Duomo, the square where Hotel Duomo Firenze stands. If you are running, staying at Piazza del Duomo 1 means walking out of the hotel and straight into the start area, with no taxis, no shuttles and no road closures to worry about.
When is the Florence Marathon 2026?
The 2026 edition of the Firenze Marathon is on Sunday, November 29, 2026. It is a full 42.195 km marathon, and on the same Sunday morning there is also a 10K race that follows the last 10 kilometers of the marathon course. The race Expo, where runners collect their race packs and bibs, is held on the two days before the marathon.
In 2025 the race had about 13,200 registrations, half of them from outside Italy, so hotels in the historic center fill up early for this weekend. Check the official race page for start times, Expo location and registration.
Where does the marathon start and what does the course see?
The start is in Piazza del Duomo, in front of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore. The course then crosses the historic center and runs along the Arno, through Cascine Park and the Oltrarno district, across Ponte Vecchio and past the Basilica of Santa Croce. After the finish, post-race services are in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, a short walk from the hotel.

How many nights should I book for the Florence Marathon?
Most runners arrive on Friday or Saturday to collect their bib at the Expo, run on Sunday and leave on Sunday afternoon or Monday. Three nights, Friday to Monday, give you time to pick up your race pack, rest, run and enjoy Florence without rushing.
Good to know before you book
- Check-in from 2:00 PM, check-out by 11:00 AM.
- The reception is on the 4th floor, reached by lift; rooms are on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors, connected by internal staircases of 19 steps.
- Because the building is a historic landmark, we have no rooms adapted for guests with disabilities.
- Florence city tax: €6 per person per night (maximum 7 nights), children up to 12 are exempt.
- Partner garage 150 meters away: €35 per 24 hours for cars up to 4.5 meters.
